Arthoscopic treatment of osteocondral lesion of the talus

Abstract

Objectives: The objective of this paper is to analyze the results of arthroscopic treatment in the talus ostecondral lesion. The technique is: resection of the lesion , cleaning the damage area and perforation. Methods: Between November 1997 and July 2005, 22 patients with osteocondral lesion were treated by resection of the lesion, shaver the damage cartilage and perforation the place with k wire. The lesion were classified by Berndt and Harty tomography classification. Twelve lesions were classified in type II and ten type III. Results: The AOFAS score were 71,7 points in the preoperative and 91.8 in the postoperative. The increased was 20,1 points . We had one patient with a paresthesia of the safenous nerve which resolve spontaneously. Conclusion: We concluded that the arthroscopic treatment for Talus osteocondral lesion using the resection of the lesion, shaver the damage area and perforation the place is a efficient method to treat this kind of lesion.
