Abstract

Objective: to bring up to date and to bring to the quarrel the treatment techniques of the arthrogrypotic clubfoot. Methods: We had carried through a revision of dedicated literature to the subject through an ample bibliographical research of the existing articles at the Medline. Results: The finded results had confirmed the complexity of this syndrome approach, because of its particular characteristics. The beginning of the treatment must be as soon as possible so that articular deformities do not occur and if this happen its stabelishment will not be allowed. Conclusion: We conclude that the element that makes the treatment more difficult is the degree of rigidity caused by the syndrome, the outcome with surgical treatment is better depending of its extension and early begin, interesting results have been achieved with the use of the modified Ponseti technique in newborns and the applications of the type A botulinum toxin along with to the use of casts or orthotic devices in older children or in the returned deformities. In those cases in which the deformities have returned after the use of another forms of treatment persists the indication of talectomy for acute correction or the use of the Ilizarov technique for gradual correction
