Surgery treatment of Ledderhose disease with the wide ressection technique of the plantar fascia

Abstract

Objective: A retrospective study of patients bearers of the Ledderhose disease (plantar fibromatosis) treated surgically with extensive removal of plantar fascia, evaluates the clinical answer in the postoperative, recurrence index and the appropriate application of the surgical technique. Methods: They were appraised 19 patients, being 11 (57.9%) female and eight (42.1%) masculine; eight (42.1%) of the tomb were in the right foot and 11 (57.9%) in the left foot; 12 (63.2%) were white and seven (36.8%) black. The attendance period varied from nine to 92 months, with average of 45 months, and we applied Stadium of Sammarco in all surgical discoveries. Results: We considered as good 18 (94.74%) of the results of the patients and one (5.26%) as bad, that developed with recurrence of the lesion and pain. Nine (47.3%) were classified as degree I of Sammarco, six (31,5%) degree II, two (10,5%) degree III, and two (10,5%) degree IV. Conclusions: The accomplishment of the wide pack of the plantar fascia was shown as an effective and safe procedure in the treatment of plantar fibromatosis with low recurrence index and few immediate and late complications powders operative.
