Abstract

Background: Morton Syndrom is an incapacitant disease. Pain is the most usual cause of consultation. Affects principal y the third intermetatarsal space. The pu rpose of th is study is the post-operative evaluation of the neu rectomy as the treatment of the Morton disease, âs a simple and efficient technique with a brief postoperatively recuperation. Methods: We restropectively analized 49 patients operated with neurectomy. We evaluated 40 women and 9 men, only one with bilateral pathology. The average age was 52 years. Pain at the intermetatarsal space was the most frecuent cause of consultation, followed by pain and digital paresthesias. The diagnosis is by clinical examination. Preoperatively, ultrasonography was realizated in all patients as a complementary method. 26 patients were infiltrated preoperatively. The anatomopathologic study confirmed the Neuroma in al patients. Results: The preoperatively AOFAS score was 45 points and the postoperatively score was 94,16. No pain was refiried in 96% of the patients, or it was lesser and occasional. The average score was 36 overs 40 points respecting at pain. Functionally, the average score was 41,3 overs 45 points. The 96% of the patients have no limitation or less iimitation of the activity. 77% uses different type of shoes with no restriction, and 23% have certain difficult. It was the item which conditioned the score result. The average activity restitution was 9,4 overs 10 possibles points. Patients mayority have no callosities. There were present in 8 foot of the 50 operated. Conclusions: Morton Syndrom is more frecuent in women and in the third intermetatarsal space, clinical symptoms are enough to get the diagnosis. Ultrasongraphy is a complementary method. The dorsal approach is effective and safe.
