Abstract

Pie Hendido is a rare malformation that constitutes aproximately the 1.5%of the malformations of the foot. Is characterized by the presence of a fault or central "defect" in the foot that originates from an alteration of the apical ectodermal ridge, caused by a genetic reason or by external teratogenal agents. Also there is known with the na mes of Pied Dhomard (French), Lobster Claw, Cleft Foot, Split foot (English), or simply " Pie Hendido" (Spanish). Two cases of this malformation are being reported, treated in our unit at the Pediatric Specialities Hospital of Maracaibo during the period August 2004 - March 2007
