Abstract

The Hansen disease is a dermoneurological affection that can produce incapacitant consequences with a high cost for the patient and the society, even after it has bacteriologically healed. The possibility of infection and the clinical presentation of the disease normally depend on the patient's immunity system, as well as on the whole evolution of the disease. On the MMll, for example, the most affected areas are generally the poplitial nerve, and tibialis posterior, mostly on the sensitive and functional part, due to the muscles they innervate. Concequences left by Hansen disease in the foot like malperforans ulcerations, deformities, osteoarticular injuries such as osteolisis, reabsorption of the bone; and basically mutilations and tarsal disintegration (Charcot'arthropathic).
