Posterior traumatic dislocation of subtalar joint with six-month follow up

Abstract

Posterior subtalar dislocation is an extremely rare lesion. Management must focus on immediate, closed or open reduction; complications may occur, such as, subtalar osteoarthritis. The objective of this case report is to describe a female patient of 35 years of age with a diagnosis of posterior subtalar dislocation who was treated with open reduction and follow-up at 6 months, after the procedure with good clinical and functional evolution using the AOFAS scale and the SF-36 questionnaire. She presented subtalar osteoarthritis that was demonstrated by nuclear magnetic resonance. This is the first published report of a Mexican case.
