Lesión osteocondral en plafónd tibial en niños

Abstract

We present a case of osteochondral lesion at the distal tibial plafond (OLTP) in a 12-year-old-child and literatu re review. Material and Method: The patient presented chronicankle pain in no specific area after an ankle sprain. x-ray. were negative and CT-scans and MRI allowed diagnosis. After one year of conservative treatment, surgery was decided. We performed an arthroscopy, debridement and microfractures wlth remission of the symptoms after one year of foltow up. Discussion: Between 1987 and 2009, we found ten papers and only eight of them mentioned a tibial plafond lesion, none of them in children, except Raikin⁽¹⁰⁾ and sijbrandij⁽¹²⁾ that had 10-18-year-old-range and 12-51 -year-old-range respectably. The election treatment was the surgical treatment and arthroscopy was the technlque chosen for most of the authors. Conclusions: Osteochondral tibial plafond lesions in children are uncommon. Most authors agree with arthroscopic surgical treatment as the better option, and osteochondral grafting in large defects or recurrence in adults (Pearce ⁽⁹⁾ y cols.- ueblacker⁽¹³⁾). We haven,t found anything previously reported about osteochondral injury of the tibial plafond in children.
