The great toe, plays an important role in the normal gait, so its absence can give rise to multiple complications. This paper a imsto identify and analyze problems that can lead to amputation of the hallux, which is not the end of the problem but the beginning of many. We evaluated 13 patients (14 feet), most of them, diabetics. 12 had one or more of the complications studied. We conclude that before the removal of a great toe we should be cautious and try by every means possible to save the integrity of the radio.
