Abstract

From the description of the sinus tarsi syndrome by O'Connor in 1958, little was understood about the pathology. Currently it is possible to accurately diagnose the etiology of the pain and the feeling of instability in the sinus tarsi. The orthopedic doctor should not settle for the simple diagnosis of sinus tarsi syndrome and it is imi: erative to find the underlying cause of instability in the sinus tarsi. The orthopedic doctor must carry out an adequate and effective treatment for the patient. With the proposed classification Type la - b (<6 months), ll a - b (> 6 months), lll and lV may lead to systematically study pain syndrome of the sinus tarsi, and identify the source of condition and directed to appropriate treatment according to clinical, radiological and surgical procedures (both open and arthroscopic surgery).
