Abstract

Objective: To describe the surgical technique of articular decompression and to demonstrate our results in the treatment of patients with Hállux Rígidus Grade II. Methods: From June 2006 to February 2015, 26 patients and 27 feet were evaluated, with diagnosis of Hállux Rígidus Grade II (according to the classification of Coughlin and Shurnas) surgically treated with the joint decompression technique. The patients were evaluated after 3, 6 and 12 months postoperatively and responded to the AOFAS protocol for the forefoot. Results: All patients reported improvement of symptoms and had an improvement in the AOFAS score, mean of 49.33 in the preoperative period and 90.62 in the postoperative period. Only one case had complications, without functional impairment. Conclusion: We can conclude, based on the results obtained, that the joint decompression technique is a good option in the surgical treatment of patients with grade II Hállux Rígidus.
