Abstract

Background: The Hawkins classification, a reference for description of fractures of the neck, used in multiple centers worldwide, contains failures in its descriptive and therapeutic indication. Methods: We used, as diagnostic methods of these lesions, radiographic projections of the foot in AP, lateral and oblique, as well as the Canale projection and Computed Axial Tomography with its 3 incidences. Results: We divided the neck’s fractures of the talus into 3 Types: Type 1: fracture without displacement and dislocation. Type 2: fractures with displacement and dislocation, divided into three subtypes according to the characteristic of the fracture line and Type 3: fracture with posterior enucleation of the talus body. Each type of fracture defines a therapeutic criteria to follow. Conclusions: This classification allows covering the greatest number of fracture patterns of the neck, and gives a useful guide to plan the treatment of each one.
