Abstract

Brachymetatarsia is a rare foot condition characterized by a short metatarsal. It is diagnosed when one metatarsal ends 5mm or more proximal to the parabolic arc of the foot. It relates directly with an early closure of the growing plate. The cause maybe congenital, idiopathic or secondary to surgery or trauma. Actually, there are several surgery procedures of progresive bone elongation with good results showing advantages and disadvantages. This a case report of progressive bone elongation with sole external fixator.
