Comportamiento patológico del ligamento tibiopereoneo anteroinferior tras lesiones capsuloligamentosas de tobillo

Abstract

It is estimated that between 10-30% of patients suffering from ankle sprain have some type of chronic pain. The most common etiology is the soft tissue impingement. The aím of this paper is to analyze the injuries found during posttraumatic ankle arthroscopic procedures. We retrospectively analyzed a serie of 15 patients with ánterolateral ankle pain over 6 months or longer after suffering an ankle injury. All patients were evaluated preoperatively with plain, ankle forced radiographs and MRl. Ankle arthroscopy was performed and the pathologic findings were related with the clinical exploration and the mechanism of injury. ln 14 of the 15 patients we foundand ánteroinferior tibiofibular ligament (LTPAI) which contacted the talar dome in dorsiflexion. ln the other patient we found a capsular fold that mimics the mechanism of injury of LTPAI. ln two patients we a lso found a concomitant tenosynovitis of the flexor hallucis long us with and associated trigger toe. ln our study the anatomical structure that was most frequently involved in the pathogenesis of chronic ánterolateral ankle pain after trauma was the LTPAI. However in 8 of the 15 patients there was an associated injury.
