Abstract

Introduction: there are many options to treat ankle arthrosis. The preferred method in younger patients should preserve the native joint, like supramalleolar osteotomies do.Objective: to show our results using osteotomies as treatment of ankle arthrosis and recurrent osteochondral (OCD) lesions. Methods: eleven patients, 12 ankles, operated between March 2007 and January 2008. Preoperative diagnoses were: lateral arthrosis in 7 ankles, medial arthrosis in 3 ankles, anteriorarthrosis in 1  ankle, medial recurrent OCD lesion in 1 case. 3 female, 8 male, average age 41, average follow up 5 years, average preoperative AOFAS score 57. We recorded complications, subjective satisfaction score, AOFAS score, and return to sports. For lateral arthrosis, we performed supramalleolar varizating osteotomy. For medial arthrosis, supramalleolar valgizating osteotomy. For anterior ankle arthrosis, anterior opening supramalleolar osteotomy. For the OCD lesion, a lateralizing calcaneal osteotomy.
