Abstract

Objective: Hallux valgus is the commonest forefoot deformity. The aim of this study is to analyze the radiological results from the combination of mininvasive Chevron technique, with a percutaneous Akin (hybrid surgery), in the treatment of moderate hallux valgus. Methods: Between January 2004 and September 2013, 62 feet operated by moderate hallux valgus were analyzed. 92% women. Pre- and postoperative intermetatarsal, metatarsophalangeal, DMAA, and interphalangeal angles were evaluated. It was analyzed by statistical tests. The clinic was assessed by AOFAS score. Results: Hallux valgus and intermetatarsal angle improved at mean 16,2 and 4,86 degrees respectively. IF and DMAA angle improved 5,15° and 3,54° respectively. All the improvements were statistically significant (p = less than 0.01). The average AOFAS showed an increase in the PO of 20.8 points. Mean follow-up was 51.5 months. Conclusions: The results of radiological correction obtained by the hybrid technique, confirmed a good alternative for the minimally invasive treatment of moderate hallux valgus; and their results in the mid.term follow-up were satisfactory.
