Abstract

Overuse leg injuries are not exclusive of the elite sporst population, but of anybody who practices sports, this being related to the increasing promotion of healthy life styles. A high percentage of this kind of injuries are the result of repetitive microtraumas, changes in intensity or duration of training. There are biomechanical or other intrinsic factors that are important to take into account in order to avoid recurrences and also extrinsic factors related to poor technique or inadequate changes in training. Contributing factors are mentioned, as well as clinical features, the proper imagenology studies in order to make a quick diagnosis and treatment. The latest modalities related to treatment are also cited.
