Objective: Numerous forms of surgical treatment have been described for chronic Achilles rupture. The purpose of this article was to analize clinical, functional and radiological results after employing autograft of Hamstring to treat a chronic rupture. Methods: A total of ten patients, 9 men and a 1 woman, who had chronic achilles tendon rupture with an average gap of 8 cm treated between december 2004 and november 2014. Mean age: 49.33 years; Average follow up: 63 months (range: 14-112); Autograft: Hamstring. Evaluation by AOFAS score, MRI, ultrasound and isocinetic evaluation at 9 and 18 months postoperatively. Results: All patients returned to their pre injury daily and sports activity. The average AOFAS score was 92.33 points, whereas the average score preoperatively was 59 points. In all cases, a continuous tendon was visualized in postoperative studies. Isocinetic evaluation mean deficit was of 38.33% in agonist-antagonist and 33.66% in relation to the contralateral one at 9 months postoperative. Isocinetic evaluation at 18 months postoperatively: average deficit of 14.33% and 15.33%, respectively. Conclusion: In chronical achilles tendon rupture witha a gap greater tahn 6cm, this technique has been a good surgical alternative for the reconstruction of the achilles tendon.
