Abstract

Objective: The aim of the study is to evaluate patients that underwent surgical treatment of ankle fractures in a private level III trauma hospital by a subjective functional questionnaire, and outline an epidemiological profile of this population. Method: After definition of inclusion criteria, this study evaluated a total of 158 patients through a subjective functional questionnaire, that had been submitted to surgically treatment of ankle fractures between the years 2008 and 2013. Results: An average of 43.07 years of age was obtained with a prevalence of male patients (57.6%). The most frequent fracture pattern was type B according to the classification of Danis-Weber (73.4%). Conclusion: Only the age factor showed a statistically significant difference in relation to the functional outcome score used.
